Connecting Google Search Console (GSC) gives GRRO access to your search query data, clicks, impressions, and rankings. This data powers the Search Performance page and feeds into Content Research for better topic discovery.

How to connect

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations in the left sidebar

  2. Find Google Search Console

  3. Click Connect

  4. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GSC property

  5. If you have multiple GSC properties, select the one for your brand's website

  6. Click Authorize

That is it. GRRO will start syncing your data.

What data is synced

  • Search queries – What people search on Google to find you

  • Clicks – How many people clicked through to your site

  • Impressions – How many times your pages appeared in search results

  • CTR – Your click-through rate

  • Average position – Where you rank for each query

Data syncs daily (at 6 AM UTC) to stay current.

Where to see your data

Go to Search Performance in the left sidebar. You will see a table of your top queries with volume, position, clicks, and impressions.

Why this matters for AI recommendations

AI search engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity pull their answers from traditional search results. If you are not ranking in the top 20 on Google or Bing, AI cannot recommend you. GSC data helps you understand your traditional search foundation.

GRRO also uses your GSC data in Content Research to discover topics where you already have some search visibility but are not yet being recommended by AI.

How to sync manually

If you want to pull fresh data immediately:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find Google Search Console

  3. Click Sync Now

How to disconnect

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find Google Search Console

  3. Click Disconnect

Your previously synced data will remain in GRRO but will no longer update.

Troubleshooting

I do not see my GSC property.

Make sure you are signing in with the Google account that has access to the GSC property. If your property is under a different Google account, sign out and reconnect with the correct one.

Data looks outdated.

GSC data from Google itself can be delayed by 2–3 days. GRRO syncs daily, but the underlying data may not be current yet.
